SAW systems measure pressure with temperature compensation
- Attached to wheel (e.g. back of valve or to run-flat system)
- Embedded in wheel
- Embedded / attached to tyre
TPMS contributes towards safety and reducing emissions
Safety: Helping to prevent road traffic accidents. 20% of truck breakdowns due to tyre failure. In a survey 20% of cars tested had tyres that were > 20% under-inflated.
Environment: Reducing toxic emissions and waste. A tyre that is 20% under inflated has an increase rolling resistance of 12% reducing tyre life by 50% and increasing fuel consumption by up to 6%.
