Transense Technologies plc ("Transense") (AIM: TRT), the provider of sensor systems for the transportation and industrial markets, is pleased to announce that its trading division, IntelliSAW, a leading provider of next generation wireless sensor systems for smart grid applications, has successfully completed the installation and full commissioning of a pilot switchgear monitoring system at the Salem Works CPP2 plant of JSW Steel.
TK Theepan, Assistant General Manager at the Salem Works plant of JSW, commented: "We have been looking for some time now to identify an easy to deploy, reliable, continuous monitoring end-to-end solution for use in our switchgear cabinets. The deployment of this pilot system is a significant step forward for us in providing monitored intelligence for these assets in our operations. We are looking forward to rolling out IntelliSAW's IS485 system throughout our facilities following the successful conclusion of this pilot."
Graham Storey, CEO of Transense, commented: "We are very excited about the opportunity to work with JSW Steel, a company that embraces new technology as a means of enhancing the efficiency and reliability of its operations. We toured the JSW Steel works during a recent trip to a number of major industrial sites in the region and were encouraged by the positive feedback we received regarding the IntelliSAW solution. It is apparent that there is a high demand to maximise the performance of existing critical power infrastructure in a region that is experiencing unprecedented economic growth, and we believe our solution is ideally positioned to fulfill this latent demand. We are pleased to have JSW as the first Indian industrial customer for IntelliSAW and look forward to developing the relationship going forward."
The ongoing relationship with JSW will be maintained by El PE, IntelliSAW's exclusive Indian distributor.
JSW is part of US $15 billion O.P.Jindal Group. It has grown to US$ 9 billion in little over a decade and has presence across various sectors – Steel, Energy, Minerals, Port & Infrastructure, Cement, Aluminum.
IntelliSAW, a trading division of Transense Technologies plc (AIM: TRT.L), develops and markets patent protected wireless, passive surface acoustic wave (SAW) based sensing systems targeted at challenging industrial applications. Its IS485 family of products provides temperature monitoring of critical electric power switchgear equipment in Smart Grid applications.
IntelliSAW's proprietary solution is wireless and does not require any power to the sensors, affording ease of installation and system commissioning while avoiding introducing any arcing or flashover concerns. Moreover the IntelliSAW system outputs data directly onto existing communication networks using standard protocols, allowing for instantaneous monitoring and control.
The IS485 platform brings an advanced feature set as compared to legacy solutions on the market today, including twelve independent sensor frequencies and four antenna connections per reader which combined allow for up to 48 sensors per system. Further innovative advances in interrogation protocols, differential sensor topology, and microcontroller architecture serve to resolve a number of known issues with existing solutions including sensor drop-out, challenging system set-up processes, positional dependence of sensor calibration, and non-compliance to high voltage application environments.
